THE NECESSITIES
(For Private Clients Only)
|
- TRAINING KIT (Not needed until Lesson #2)
See “Tom’s Training Tack” flier in your gift bag for ordering information. Please have a collar and leash (not a “Flexi” leash, nor a harness) on the dog for Lesson 1. Don’t buy anything! But please show me everything you’ve ever purchased for a dog’s training. If you’d like to purchase any equipment from Tom, please have cash or check, made out to, “Tom Sherman”, ready at our first meeting.
You can use your own equipment:
- Camcorder / AC Adapter (no batteries please) / Tripod
- Lens as wide open as possible
- Please put our backs to a solid or well-curtained wall
- The first 3-4 classes are indoors. Please select a training/videoing room that allows us to light our faces, and minimizes back light.
- We only need a 5 x 5 area (per dog)
Enough for 1 hour classes. Yes, these recordings are yours to keep and use for review (and for future dogs!)
- PAPER / PEN / READING GLASSES IF NECESSARY
4 hours without food (water O.K.)
Closed-toe, low heeled. (No flip-flops nor high heels)
Anything but “OK” or “Alright” or “Let Go”. Good examples: “Break” (my favorite), “It’s Cool”, “Relax”, “Release”, “Take Off”, “Surf’s Up”, etc… The purpose of the release word is to break the dog free from a command.
Give list to Trainer at first class (even if they forget to ask for it). Multi-Dog Households: please combine all of your dogs’ issues onto one master list.
- ½ ZIPLICK BAGGIE (sandwich size) OF SOFT (not crunchy)/SMALL (about the size of your little fingernail) FOOD
Examples:
- Turkey/Chicken hotdogs:
- Cheese
- Beef Jerky for Dogs
- Freeze-Dried Liver for Dogs
2-3 different types of food in one baggie. Please have food for each class and for each dog participating in the lesson.
If it is over 90º, or if it is raining 1 hour prior to lesson time, we will need to reschedule. Please go to: www.weather.com , type in “Chino” (or your home city), and then click on “Hour-By-Hour”. Exceptions: If we are training at your home and we can work indoors.
