GOING HOME:

You will need to purchase a training kit prior to taking home your dog. I will show you Tom's training kit at our handling lesson where you may purchase either all or pieces of his kit or use his as a model to make your own.

Depending on the program you purchased, you may be receiving our “Housebreaking and Toilet Training” video and/or our “Help for Bad Habits” video prior to bringing your dog home. Be totally familiar with the information to ensure a smooth transition.

Usually a week or so prior to your dog being finished, you’ll come and have a handling lesson with one of our dogs being used as your guinea pig. It is crucial that you view the “Handling Lesson” video the night before this appointment to minimize your frustrations and/or confusion.

Then a week later, you’ll come for the demonstration and transfer of respect (Graduation! session) with your own dog (rain will cancel). Please bring your training kit with you, onto the training field.

You and your dog will have a graduation photo taken and a diploma will be presented! On that day, you’ll take your freshly bathed dog home and begin doing a week’s worth of homework to continue that transfer of respect.

Depending on the level of training, you’ll need to return weekly (of course these private lessons are included for the dog’s lifetime) until we all feel that your relationship is solid and you can easily call up the behaviors we instilled in your pet.

You may videotape these lessons if you’d like. Lessons must be cancelled with 24 hours prior notice.

When you get your dog home, expect the unexpected! He/she has been gone from home for a while and may feel disoriented for a time, so take the appropriate precautions by keeping your eyes on him/her, puppy proofing, etc.

Finally, you need to keep taking your lessons with us and working your dog until you are satisfied or you will experience the #1 drawback to in-kennel dog training: The dog loves the owner and respects the trainer. Your dog needs to love and respect you and that takes some effort. Unfortunately there is no magic wand for that part!

Anytime the dog begins to regress – please don’t wait for the dog to walk all over you – come in for a free tune-up lesson! Remember, our work is guaranteed for the life of your dog.
